FWO-IRI GW Optics Workshop
Faculty Board Room
S2
Workshop on optics related themes of the FWO-IRI project.
- Morning: IRI WP 1 (mirrors, coatings, polishing)
- Afternoon: IRI WPs 2 & 3.1 (lasers, photonics, interferometry)
Description:
In Flanders, investments related to the Einstein Telescope (ET) have increased recently. The largest funding source is the FWO IRI-Project “Empowering Tomorrow's Technological Horizons for the Einstein Telescope”. Other activities are financed by the ET-EMR Project Office, Interreg, etc. Research in this quickly developing new field takes place at numerous Flemish universities and institutes. A large community of scientists is actively working on a multitude of groundbreaking scientific and technological challenges related to the Einstein Telescope.
In order to bring this active community together, we will be organizing a number of workshops in June 2026, each focusing on a specific domain. In this way we want to foster dialogue and informal scientific discussions across scientists active in similar or related fields, within the realm of ET-related work.
This workshop pertains to Core Optics, Optical Components, Optical Systems and Photonics. Researchers will present their recent/ongoing work and new insights. Next to that, opportunities will be created for informal discussions and networking. A draft agenda, as well as instructions for presenters can be found on the indico.
Local organizing committee: Tatevik Chalyan, Jorden De Bolle, Christophe Detavernier, Archisman Ghosh, Daniela Pascucci, Paul Put, Hugo Thienpont, Nathalie Vermeulen, Michael Vervaeke.
